FAQs 2016-12-24T08:39:48+11:00
Why are students asked to attend an ‘Introductory talk’ prior to commiting to a course of instruction. Does this mean that I have to commit to a course? 2014-01-14T21:51:57+11:00

We believe that it is important that students have an opportunity to make an informed decision in learning to meditate. By attending an Introductory talk, it is possible to ensure that all students joining a course have a solid and consisten understanding of the teaching and course approach. Furthermore, an introductory talk provides an opportunity to clarify many of the misconceptions about meditation, to understand the likely benefits that will be experienced with regular practice, and to ensure a good and practical understanding of how the technique can be in our busy lives. Also just as importantly it is an opportunity to meet Corey. After all learning is always much easier if you ‘gel’ with your teacher. Introductory talks are without obligation, and you are welcome to invite someone to join you, and listen and ask questions as you like. The more the merrier.

Do I need to meditate in a specific place, i.e. Inner Space Meditation, or do I need to set aside a special room in my home? 2016-12-24T08:39:49+11:00

We believe that all you need to meditate is the ability to sit comfortably, the ability to close your eyes and the willingness to participate. You can meditate by simply sitting in a comfortable chair or on a mat, the choice is up to you. It is important to be physically comfortable and we can help you find the way that suits you best in your first class. A beauty of this practice its few prerequisites. If we can close our eyes and we can think, then we can practice Vedic Meditation. With easily achievable requirements means that we can practice in a wide variety of locations and scenarios. Having said this, in the earlier stages of meditation practice, a quieter (but not necessary silent) location helps.

How long is the course and what happens if I miss a class? 2014-01-14T21:34:04+11:00

Ideally, the course is taken over four evenings, or over a weekend (with two sessions per day). In both cases the course content is the same. It is quite important to ensure continuity over these sessions in order build a solid practice, and so it is important to commit to the course of instruction in this way. If this will not work for you, please feel free to contact us to discuss a teaching schedule that will meet your needs. With some preparation and agreement, it should be possible to accommodate some deviation to the teaching approach. Ultimately your commitment to learning and practicing the meditation techniques determines your success, and if there is the will Inner Space Meditation will help make it happen.

I have very little ‘me’ time, is there a ‘best’ time of day to meditate? 2016-12-24T08:39:49+11:00

Vedic Meditation is ideally practiced twice daily morning and evening. Whilst we strongly encourage twice daily practice, at Inner Space Meditation students are encouraged to temper this ‘best practice’ with practicality. Interestingly for most students, despite some initial reservations, finding the opportunity to meditate is much easier than one expects. This is in large due to the increased levels of energy, rest and clarity of thought allow more effective use of our time (thereby freeing us up to invest this time). The course of instruction also addresses logistical considerations that help find suitable slots to make this happen. Finally, a beautiful aspect of Vedic Meditation is its ability to be practiced anywhere we can sit comfortably and close our eyes. Having such limited prerequisites means that we actually do it.
